Overview

Sara and Harry Kahn and their children, a London Jewish family, are enthusiastic socialists in the 1930s. The play takes them through the war against the Nazis, the promise of the Labor government and the bitterness caused by Soviet repressions. Harry is paralysed, friends and family drift out of politics. Only Sara finds faith and energy to retain left-wing beliefs and face her disillusioned son.
